Mahonie trifft Sauerklee
Herrlich aber ein Patchwork der Natur. Sie ist ein herrlicher immergrüner Strauch, der an die Stechpalme Ilex aquifolium erinnert.
Man kann sie als Färbepflanze für blau-violett und gelb verwenden je nachdem ob man Beeren oder Rinde und Wurzel verwendet.
Sie enthält Alkaloide vor allem in Rinde und Wurzeln und gilt als giftig wobei sie heute in der Homöopathie zu Heilzwecken vor allem bei Schuppenflechte Verwendung findet.
Die Beeren enthalten wenig Alkaloide und sind für die Zubereitung von Marmelade durchaus schmackhaft und geeignet
